“Belt and Road” Innovation and Development Center was established in Beijing

In order to implement the results of the second “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Summit Forum and better serve the joint construction of high-quality development of the “Belt and Road”, on April 9, the inauguration ceremony of the “Belt and Road” Innovation and Development Center was held at the China Development Bank. Ning Jizhe, as the deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission and deputy director of the “Belt and Road” construction leading group office, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. The Chairman of China Development Bank, Zhao Huan, attended the ceremony; China Development Bank President Ouyang Weimin delivered a speech, and Bai Yating from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) ), as the representative in China, delivered a video speech, and Zhang Hui, vice president of China Development Bank, presided over the ceremony and read out the founding documents. Ning Jizhe, Zhao Huan, Ouyang Weimin, and Dai Wende, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Development Program in China, jointly unveiled the Innovation and Development Center. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the People's Bank of China, the United Nations Industrial and Development Organization, the United Nations Habitat, and the World Economic Forum attended the ceremony.

 

According to reports, in April 2019, the establishment of the “Belt and Road” Innovation and Development Center will be included in the list of the summit’s achievements in the second “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Summit Forum, and the National Development and Reform Commission and the United Nations Development Program jointly initiated the “Belt and Road” initiative. "Innovative development platform construction project, and authorized China Development Bank to execute under the name of the "Belt and Road Innovation Development Center" under the project. During past two years, with the support from relevant departments, the work of the Innovation and Development Center has been progressing smoothly and a series of results have been achieved. In the next step, the “Belt and Road” Innovation and Development Center will adhere to the concepts of openness, greenness, and integrity. Under the policy guidance and overall coordination of the National Development and Reform Commission, it will give full play to the advantages of China Development Bank's “financing + integration of intelligence”, as well as the United Nations Development Program and other international organizations. The organization's advanced experience in the field of sustainable development and international resource advantages play an active role in serving the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" innovative research, project consulting, partnerships, and capacity building, and contribute to the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road".
